The State of Georgia is taking applications for Members to be on regional Incident Management Teams ( IMT). This program, funded through ODP and managed locally will eventually be a resource for our state in events and incidents in the TYPE three category ( ref NIMS/ICS typing ).
We need assistance in getting the word out to all public safety disciplines and agencies so we can get teams that are cross-discipline as much as possible.
We request the attached letter be posted on your web site with the link to OHS GEMA site.
Details and the application are on the GEMA home page as well as the contact information for questions. go to http://www.ohs.state.ga.us/
look in Featured issues for the 2006 IMT team info. There are three documents to review, the memo, the application and the book which defines the program.
This is a joint project of the Georgia Forestry Commission, OHS GEMA and the Georgia Public Safety Training Center along with the Georgia Mutual Aid Group.

What Does NIMS and ICS Include?
NIMS includes commandand management, preparedness, resourcemanagement, communications andinformation management, supporting technologies, andongoing management and maintenance. The IncidentCommand System (ICS) is only one component of NIMS,but is the most important for establishing commandand management.
Which Disciplines Need ICS Training?
ICS has proven to be an effective and efficient incident management system. ICS merges facilities,
equipment, personnel, procedures and communications into a common organizational structure.
In Georgia, the adoption and implementation of NIMS is high priority. To meet NIMS compliance
guidelines, the Office of Homeland SecurityGeorgia Emergency Management Agency (OHS-GEMA)
has identified the following 10 core disciplines to undergo training and implement ICS into
communicating priorities, plans and actions: fire services, hazardous material response teams,
emergency medical services, emergency management, law enforcement, public works, government
administration, public safety communications, health care and public health.
